My research focuses on early childhood and early grades education leadership and policy. My work is motivated by the core value that all children in the United States deserve the opportunity to attend a high-quality Pre-K program. It also recognizes that a single year of Pre-K is not enough–especially for students from historically oppressed communities–and a holistic continuum of support is needed. For this reason, much of my research focuses on how Pre-K programs are integrated within school systems and other community and family support systems. I am particularly interested in Pre-K programs that are physically located within school buildings and how to ensure those programs are supported by highly effective principals.
